Riding on the success of the original Valley of the Gods slot, Yggdrasil created a sequel in 2020. Although an ancient Egyptian theme with reels set against the backdrop of temples remains evergreen on Valley of the Gods 2, it has a different reel structure from the original.
The follow-up has six reels in a 1-2-3-4-5-2 format that’ll change to a 3-4-5-6-7-8 structure when blockers are removed. Once this transformation occurs, the number of paylines increases.
Valley of the Gods 2 has a mystical soundtrack that adds to the overall thrill. Additionally, a 96.30% RTP alongside medium-high variance can result in winning combinations reaching 6,432x your bet.

The game starts with 16 blocked positions, and winning combinations release blocker-destroying Scarabs.
Wins result in respins that will open more blocked segments. As you unlock reels, the paylines will gradually increase from 240 (default) to 20,160. But once you lose, the respins end, and the reels will reset to 240 paylines.
Once you eliminate all 16 blockers from the base game, you’ll activate the Scarab Collections represented by the three metres at the reels’ left side — Red (Life), Yellow (Wild), and Blue (Multi).
Here’s how they work:
Life: Landing five Red Scarabs tills the Life Metre, awarding you one Extra Life and extra Respins on losing rounds.
Wild: Getting five Gold Scarabs charges the Wild Metre, adding a Wild Reel to the next spin.
Multi: Activating Scarab Collections awards a 2x Win Multiplier that increases for every five Blue Scarabs collected.
After taking 70+ spins, we finally activated the Scarab Collections round. Here, filling the Life and Wild Metres got us two Extra Lives and a Wild Reel. With a 2x Win Multiplier applied to each win, we accumulated a Mega Win of €3,592.
Yggdrasil’s sequel to the original Valley of the Gods slot is enjoyable. However, it’s a bit complex; we struggled to understand the reel setup and in-game extras at first.
The Respins Feature is the game’s major highlight. This add-on helped us remove all blockers, increase the number of paylines to the maximum, and unlock the Scarab Collections round that gave us our biggest in-game win.
Playing Valley of the Gods 2 was a rollercoaster. But if you appreciate suspenseful and rewarding gameplay, we recommend hitting the slot’s Spin button.
If you enjoy playing Starburst but want to try something new, let us show you some slots offering something similar but with a bit of a twist:
Play’n GO released the Book of Dead in 2016. Despite having an Egyptian theme like Valley of the Gods 2, Book of Dead has a lower RTP of 96.2%. Although the bonuses on Book of Dead are significantly lower, we enjoyed the Gamble Round, which let us double and quadruple our wins every now and then. And while Book of Dead has a 5,000x max win value, it isn’t enough to compete with the values on Valley of the Gods 2.
Book of Ra Deluxe is a game from Novomatic. This 2018-relead slot has a lower RTP (95.1%) than Valley of the Gods 2. Bonus-wise, Book of Ra Deluxe has one significant extra — the Free Spins Feature. And with a maximum payout of 5,000x, Book of Ra Deluxe doesn’t reach the reward levels of Valley of the Gods 2.
